- 1. What is your location and hours of operation?
Our address is 1711 Abott Road, Anchorage, Alaska 99507From the New Seward Hwy. take the Dimond off ramp east (head towards the mountains) - as you round the first curve you will see our building blocking the view of the Home Depot on the east side of the road. Yep, that’s us, right in front of Home Depot.Store hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
- 2. Can I bring my own shirts?
Would you bring in a meat patty to McDonald’s or a chicken to KFC? We prefer that you do not bring your own shirts because of seams, pockets, zippers, and material. Many garments purchased over the counter are not print or embroidery friendly. When Alaska Serigraphics provides both the shirts and the decoration, we stand behind our work and cannot do so if you provide the garment to us. Of course if you whine loud enough we might just do it.
- 3. Can you create my logo and at what cost?
We specialize in creating custom logos and art work. Our art charges are $70.00 per hour, with a ½ hour minimum. All art charges are a one time charge.
- 4. Can you print a photograph?
While other printers shy away from complicated multi-color images, we have made it our specialty. We excel at printing 4-color process images on both light and dark garments.
- 5. Can you put my art on a banner or on...?
Not only can we create banners, we can put your design on the side of your car, a coffee cup, a key chain, and almost anything you can think of.
- 6. Do you have a showroom?
Our showroom is packed with samples of all types. One of our helpful sales associates will gladly assist you in your selection of the perfect promotional gear.
- 7. Do you have minimums?
Screen Printing requires one dozen items per ink color. This is due to the labor intensive process of setting up the print on the press and all of the subsequent clean-up involved.Embroidery requires a minimum order of 6 pieces for flat goods and 12 pieces for hats. This is because our machines have 6 sewing heads and we like to keep them all busy. Sublimations items on coffee cups, mouse pads and the many assorted items listed under
"Quick Prints" category can be decorated on just one item.
Advertising Specialty products vary depending on the item and type of decoration. Generally allow 3 weeks for completion. The time may vary depending on shipping.
- 8. How do I send you my art?
You can e-mail your art, if it is less than 10MB, to the customer service representative that you are working with or the art director. You can also fill out the SEND A FILE FORM for files smaller than 100MB. Please see Art Guidlines to see types of files that are acceptable.
- 9. How long will it take to complete my order?
Screen printing orders will take between 2 to 3 weeks to complete, from the development of art work to the final product.
Embroidery orders are typically 3 weeks to complete.
Quick Prints take between 3 to 5 days.
Vinyl Signs and Banners range from 1 week to 2 weeks.
Advertising Specialty products generally take 3 weeks for completion. This time may vary depending on shipping method.
- 10. What are setup fees?
Screen printing set-up fees cover the initial cost of making a silk screen for each color of your design. We charge $35.00 per ink color for a full size image and $20.00 for a pocket size image.
Embroidery set-up fees are for digitizing, or plotting the path of the needle, of your logo. Prices are based on the number of stitches in your design. The average charge for a pocket or hat logo is $85.00, while a full size logo can range from $150 to $300. Set-up fees are a one-time charge!
- 11. What are your payment terms?
Our normal terms are 50% down and the balance on pick-up. If you are a new customer and/or you want terms of net 30 days, it will be necessary to fill out a credit application. Allow 3 business days for our accounting department to review your application. For your convenience we accept all major credit cards.
- 12. What is a quick print?
Quick Prints are accomplished with our digital direct-to-garment printer or with a process called sublimation printing. Direct to garmet printing is brand new technology which can print directly onto a t-shirt with unbelievable precession and quality. The shirt is first treated with a solution that will dry the white ink as soon as it comes in contact with the shirt, which in turn enables the printer to apply a 4-color process image on the white ink. Sublimation printing is a heat transfer application that also reproduces a wonderful 4- color process image with fantastic clarity. This process can reproduce your image on a variety of items including t-shirts, coffee cups, cutting boards ... you name it.
- 13. What is the best way to order?
It is best to work personally with you at our location. Our goal is to fit the garment to your promotion. We will discuss garment type, color, ink or thread colors, size break downs and art concepts. If you are a repeat customer then you can fax or e-mail your order. If you call in your order we will still require a written copy of your order to avoid mistakes.
- 14. What is the difference between
a screen-printed t-shirt and a transfer?
We have the ability to supply our customers with both high quality screen printing and heat applied transfers. Screen printing involves a separate silk screen for each ink color which is then applied to the t-shirt and then heated to a temperature of 325 degrees to cure the ink and bond the ink to the garment. The heat transfer process is typically for short runs from one piece to one dozen. We use a specialized transfer process called sublimation. Sublimation printing is achieved with inks that bond themselves to the polyester in the t-shirt or to a coating that is adheared to the coffee cup or any of the other items we offer. These inks are very transparent and work best on white colored items and require a t-shirt made specifically for the sublimation process.
- 15. What other items can you transfer an image to?
With sublimation, we can offer our customers a variety of items including coffee cups, tiles, cutting boards, t-shirts and more. The wonderful thing about sublimation is that we can provide you with just one item decorated with a full color print. - 16. What type of art will you accept?
Art for most promotional items such as pencils, pens, etc. must be a vector file and be created in a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. To save time, the following guidelines are suggested. Please contact the art director if you are unsure whether your art will work.
For art on paper, vector art is recommended. This is art created in Illustrator or Corel Draw. The fonts must be converted to outline or curves. Please include a .jpg as a proof. Placed images must be included with the file.
Bitmap files such as .tiff, .bmp or .psd are good for painted or photographic images. For best result the image must be created at 300 dpi at the final print size. Images taken from the internet such as .jpg or .giff are not recommended because they are usually too small. Bitmap files will usually not work for promotional items such as pencils, flashlights, etc. List of names must be typed in Microsoft Word. For a paragraph of names, do not press “Enter” at the end of each line. For names to be placed in columns please press “Enter” after each name. Please e-mail the font along with the file. We use the following application on the Windows platform: Corel Draw X3, Adobe Illustrator CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5.

- 17. What types of garments do you sell?
We sell all types of garments and brands specifically designed for the screen printing and embroidery industry. Our brands include Carhartts, Port Authority, Ash City, Hanes... the list goes on.
